  • Student job fair and workshop 

 

Saturday, October 24

  • Undergraduate poster session, with the top three presentations receiving awards.

  • Graduate student competition for the PSS Outstanding Graduate Student Award. The top undergraduate and graduate papers will be published in the Society's peer­ reviewed journal, Sociological Viewpoints.

 

Plenary sessions, panels, and workshops on Saturday include:

  • "Science, Technology,and Social Change"

  • "Globalization and Its Discontents"

  • "Environmental Challenges in the 21st Century"

  • "The New Economy and Problems of Inequality

  • "Education at a Crossroads"

  • "Sociological Dimensions of Class, Gender, Race, and Sexual Orientation in the New Millennium"

  • "Crime and Violence"

  • "Religion and Ideology''

  • "Digital and Media Sociology"

  • "Teaching Sociology: New Challenges amid Old Conundrums"

  • "Animals and Society"

  • Workshop for undergraduate students on "How To Be Successful in Your Job Search."

 

As part of the program, Dr. Steffensmeier will speak at Saturday's luncheon, which will also be the time slot for various awards and special recognition of members.

 

 

Papers and Panel Presentations

 

Scholarly papers and panel presentations on any topic related to the theme are preferred. Other topics will be considered. We encourage participants to volunteer to organize a session or propose one of their own.

 

Deadline for proposal submissions has been extended to October 1.

 

Please email your submissions and a 300-word abstract to Dr. Ivan Chompalov at ichompalov@edinboro.edu. Please include title, abstract, and author(s).

 

 

Call for Undergraduate Papers/Posters and Graduate Papers
