October 26-27, 2018
Northampton Community College
The 2018 PSS annual conference is organized around the theme of “Mobilizations.” The Trump era has seen what seems to be a significant increase in political mobilization. The white supremacist right has re-emerged as a public force. Teenagers have mobilized against gun violence. Community partnerships are mobilizing resources to address the opioid crisis. Churches are protesting the separation of migrant families. Papers on topics surrounding mobilization, in its multiple varieties, are encouraged, but papers on any topic are welcome.
The conference will kick off on Friday, October 26, with an evening keynote speech by Chip Berlet. Mr. Berlet is an independent scholar-journalist whose work focuses on extreme right-wing movements in the United States.
