KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Durrell Keith Martin

"Police and Power:  What can academia learn from history"

Deciding to use his mathematics and statistics credits to find a career in State Government in 2009, Durrell Martin has worked as a Descriptive Statistician at the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry in Harrisburg, Pa., ever since.  He is also an independent Math and Reading Tutor with Wyzant tutoring service.  He enjoys the “one-on-one” collaboration with the students, and he especially enjoys seeing the “lightbulb” appear during the student’s learning process.

These skills and “liberal arts knowledge” were mastered at Lebanon Valley College, where Durrell received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology (2008).  At Lebanon Valley College, Durrell was an active member of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Pallas Society (Social Justice Honor Society), Sociology and Criminal Justice Club (Co-President) and College Choir

Durrell serves on the Lebanon Valley College Alumni Scholarship Committee, which meets annually in March to award scholarships to students at the college.   Having a rich religious upbringing, Durrell is an Ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); his church home is Capital Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg.   A resident of Middletown, Pa., Durrell enjoys travel and networking with learners of all ages.
